Plagiarism


 

The African Research Journal of Education and Social Sciences is guided by the following plagiarism policy provisions:

  1. Definition of Plagiarism: The journal views plagiarism as the act of presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or intellectual property as one’s own, without proper acknowledgment or citation. The journal considers plagiarism to be a serious academic and ethical offense. Journals often define plagiarism and specify what actions constitute plagiarism.
  2. Originality and Authorship: The submitted manuscript should be original work of the author(s) and should have not been previously published elsewhere. Any use of others’ work must be appropriately cited.
  3. Proper Citation and Referencing: Authors are expected to provide accurate and complete citations for all sources used in their work. This includes both direct quotes and paraphrased information.
  4. Submission Declaration: The journal requires authors to include a submission declaration stating that the manuscript is their own original work and that it has not been published previously.
  5. Consequences of Plagiarism: The journal’s consequences of plagiarism is rejection of the manuscript or retraction of published article(s).
  6. Plagiarism Detection: Journal makes use of plagiarism detection tools to identify potential instances of plagiarism. Authors may be required to share plagiarism check report.
  7. Responsibility of Authors: The journal holds author(s) responsible for ensuring that their work is free from plagiarism. This includes the responsibility to obtain permission for using copyrighted material and to properly cite all sources.
