African Research Journal of Education and Social Sciences (ARJESS) is a scholarly Open Access (OA) e-Journal (ISSN: 2312-0134) published by Kenya Projects Organization.

Journal Objective: ARJESS is an online journal whose principal objective is to electronically publish research articles in the fields of education and social sciences in Africa’s context.

Journal focus: The Journal mainly focuses on education and social issues which are continent-ally relevant rather than on any accepted norms that might be prevalent in developed countries.

Open Access: ARJESS is Open Access, implying that there are no subscription fees. No charges for accessing the journal’s published articles.  The journal provides open access to all of its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Such access is associated with increased readership and increased citation of an author’s work. More information about this concept can be accessed via Public Knowledge Project.

Research acceptability: The acceptance of a research article will depend upon its educational and social contribution in Africa’s context. The journal’s main commitment is not driven by academics merely showcasing their research prowess to each other. It is about contribution to knowledge and addressing real and not perceived issues in Africa’s developing economies.

Charges: The publication cost is covered by the author. The journal charges 300 US Dollars for foreign authors (outside Africa) and US Dollars 150 for Authors in Africa .  These charges meet article processing costs and and allow the journal to make the valuable published materials freely accessible to the members of global community.

Fee Wavers: The journal may provide fee waivers under the circumstances:

  1. Developing Countries: The journal offers fee waivers or reduced fees for authors from low-income or developing countries. This is to support researchers from regions where funding for academic activities may be limited.
  2. Financial Hardship: Authors facing financial difficulties may request a fee waiver. This is often assessed on a case-by-case basis, and authors may need to provide evidence of their financial situation before the journal can offer fee waiver.
  3. Special Circumstances: Journals may consider fee waivers for authors who can demonstrate special circumstances that warrant financial assistance.

Peer review: Research contributions will be sought, and they will be reviewed and refereed by renowned scholars.

Copying: Authors submitting articles to ARJESS do so with the understanding that with online electronic publishing, authors and publishers do not always have the means to prevent unauthorized copying or editing of copyrighted works.

Downloads: Article downloads from ARJESS are permitted for personal and educational use only. Commercial use requires explicit permission in writing from the Editor in Chief.

Copyright:

  1. Retained Copyright: ARJESS allows authors to retain the copyright to their work. This means that authors retain ownership of their intellectual property.
  2. Licensing Agreement: Authors grant the journal a license to publish their work. This license outlines the terms under which the journal can distribute, display, and reproduce the work. See Author Copyright Form
